General Questions

Shipping or Cargo Containers are steel boxes of different heights and lengths designed with strength in mind. This strength is to ensure the longevity of the box and protection of its contents when being used in the shipping process. They are made to withstand decades of abuse being transported across every ocean in the world.

There are a wide range of shipping containers available in the market today. That being said, there is a specific verbiage used to describe containers and what makes them unique. The most common words used to describe containers are as follows:

  • 20’ (SD)Standard: This describes a container that is 20’ in length, 8’ wide and 8’6” tall. There are doors on one end of this container. All other prefixes will be used to describe differences from this standard container size.
  • 40’ (SD)Standard: This describes a container that is 40’ in length, 8’ wide and 8‘6” tall. There are doors on one end of this container. All other prefixes will be used to describe differences from this standard container size.
Prefixes:
  • HC(High-Cube): This means the container is a foot taller than standard height. 9’6” tall.
  • DD(Double-Door): This means the container has doors at both ends of the container.
  • OS(Open-Side): This means the container is manufactured with an entire side of the container being capable of being opened.
Condition Prefixes:
  • One-Trip: These are new containers. As all containers are manufactured in China, New containers are describes as “One-Trip” as they have been filled with goods in China and shipped one way to the US. These containers are of the highest quality. These containers are wind, water and rodent resistant.
  • CW(Cargo Worthy): This describes a used container that has been inspected and approved for use in intermodal transportation. This means the structural integrity of the container is satisfactory and all patches if any have been done professionally with longevity and strength in mind. These containers are wind, water and rodent resistant.
  • WWR(Wind & Water Resistant): This phrase is used to describe a container that hasa been retired from intermodel transportation use. Although it is no longer structurally approved for intermodel transportation, The container does not leak, and its contents will remain dry as long as patchwork is serviced regularly. These containers are at risk of future water, wind and rodent problems.
  • AS-IS: This phrase entails that the container is to be sold in “as-is” condition. This means whatever leaks or damage the container has ensued is at the expense of the buyer.

While we sell both new and used containers of all condition ratings, our rental fleet is primarily made up of new containers to ensure that you have the best quality container for your on-site storage.

We offer containers in all the sizes mentioned in our “ different types of containers” answer along with 10’ containers upon request. We can also provide custom length upon request.

Buying Containers

Purchasing a container is simple and easy. Simply call our business line and a member of our team will provide you with the fairest and most up to date container prices.

By contacting us, you have our expert opinion of container solutions based on your wants and needs. We will help you with length, height and customized options based on your space. Also, we can give you a play by play delivery plan based on the information you provide about your space.

Renting Containers

The rental process is quick and easy. Simply contact us with your container needs and we will collect delivery information such as space requirements, address and time.

The minimum rental period is 2 months. There is no maximum rental period as the boxes are built to outlast all of us.

There are no additional costs associated with renting a container. While we sell both new and used containers (of all condition ratings), our rental fleet is primarily made up of new containers to ensure that you have the best quality container for your on-site storage.

If any damage occurs to any of our rental containers then a member of our team will come to you and repair such damages. The cost of these damages is conditional and most often responsibility does not fall on our customers. If damages are so severe that the container needs to undergo fabrication repair, a new container will be provided to the customer at the agreed upon rental rate.

Delivery and Pickup

We deliver and pick-up all of our containers ourselves. Simply call us when you’d like your container delivered and transversely when you have emptied your container and would like to have it picked-up.

Delivery charge is based on distance from our Santa Barbara and Solvang Container yards. Short deliveries often come at no charge to our customers.

We can usually have a container for you within 24hrs of contacting our office. We understand the urgency of protecting personal items and operate with the same sense of urgency.

Each site varies across a wide spectrum of variables. Our only requirements that are consistent across all deliveries are; First, enough room for the truck to deliver the container. Depending on the delivery, each truck has its advantages for specific delivery types. Second, The driving surface must be solid and drivable for our delivery trucks.

Make sure that the driving surface is suitable for our heavy trucks. Have the space cleared and ready for your container to be delivered. Be sure to check if there are any low hanging branches or power lines on the delivery route near your drop-off location. Relax and experience the sense of ease as your storage solution is about to arrive.

Usage and Modifications

Shipping containers can be used for an infinite amount of applications beyond safe and secure storage of your valuables. From being used as a foundation for homes, swimming pools or workshops, the sky's the limit.

We can fabricate your container to any of your specific needs.

We do all of our modification services in house to ensure you get the best quality work done on your container.

The main thing you want to be aware of when storing valuables in any enclosed space is to never introduce water to the inside of the space. Storing wet items in the storage container will leave no place for the water to escape and in turn, will cause all of your items to become damp. This will eventually create mold inside the space. We strongly urge you to only store dry goods in your storage container to eliminate this problem altogether. As far as maintenance goes, leave it to us. If there is ever an issue with your storage container, one of our staff will be on hand ready to diagnose and fix any problem you may have.

  • For Purchase of a Storage container, the buyer is provided with receipt of the sale. This allows for proof of purchase for tax exemption if the purchase is for a business.
  • For Rental of a Storage container, the buyer is issued; an invoice, an automatic payment authorization form and a rental agreement. All copies are saved either as hard copy or digital copy by us.
